Analytics and SEO rebuilding

September 12, 2012 by bojan Leave a Comment

For some reason, I love Jetpack stats. They are inside of the WordPress, and I have one tab less to open. But it seems to be my laziness. This time I want to spend more time in Google analytics, as it gives me more overview on what happens with my visits, and how they reach Alpha Efficiency.

Forming a new habit

Now, I know I am a quick analytics junkie, just in order to make myself feel good about the traffic that occurred the previous day, but Analytics is called Analytics for a reason. To give you insight and new ideas on your content. And I actually did get “fresh” ideas, and insights into how much my articles are read. And what articles need some more love.

Unoptimized content

I believe that lately I’ve been creating a lot of great content, but I don’t feel as if I pulled the maximum revenue from it for me. Republishing some of the old articles on social media and optimizing it for Google a little bit.

No matter how much I hate Google…

It is still my main source of traffic! More than 75% of my visits come through Google and that is depressing. My plan is to diversify my traffic sources through other venues. Because this makes my business vulnerable to algorythm changes, and that doesn’t make a solid business.

Work music…

September 10, 2012 by bojan Leave a Comment

Guys at Asian Efficiency wrote a great piece on work music, where they reminded me of all the great sound tracks out there that are really good working music. It is inspiring and heart lifting, stimulating your inspiration, while not distracting you from the task at hand. Currently I am listening to the music from Steve Jablonsky, that was written for Transformers, and it puts me in a role of a person who is doing something incredibly important, in the terms of an epic historical event.

The emphasis of emotions is important for your workflow. And soundtracks are perfect for it.

Avoid Being A 3 Day Expert

September 10, 2012 by bojan Leave a Comment

When I started blogging I was preoccupied with the “expert status” that was relevant to making money. And than I got into a trap of wanting to become an expert on every topic that I was reading about. I used to be guilty of this sin.

On expert lies…

It is one of those marketing lies that have been told over and over again. You don’t need to be an expert in order to make money online. You need to be passionate.

Caution on 3 Day Experts

Now you will be able to find a lot of so called experts online. Ed Dale suggested a simple tip on how to switch this self proclaimed “expert” tittle into a “enthusiast”. Enthusiasm is a great word, and instead of you looking like a snake oil person, you will actually look like a living person.

You won’t lie, you won’t overstate your status, and above all else, you actually will stand out from the crowd. Of all the reasons mentioned in the previous sentence, standing out might be the most important one.

Enthusiast such a lovely word.

Rethink your actions

It is way easier to connect to a living person, than to some self proclaimed God on any given topic. Value your personal reputation, because internet remembers pretty everything, and you are just one Google search away from the truth.

Let your enthusiasm shine through and catch the hearts of the fellow people around the planet.

"Smarter Than I Am…" New Tumblr I subscribed to

September 10, 2012 by bojan Leave a Comment

This blog is written and edited by Michael Schechter.  Now I always have hard time spelling his last name. There are some really cool articles relating Launch Center Pro and Omnifocus integration that he kicked in, and immediately got him on my radar. His Tumblr is a compliation of short thoughts from people who wrote something “smarter than him”. He is a person that is responsible for my nvALT rave and numerous other writing workflow modifications.

If you got some space in your RSS, this feed will definitively bring some smarts into it.
