The day was sunny and I just reached the beautiful Greek Island Aegina… Logging on lap top, checking in which hotel I should take rest and my boss IM’s me about ePassPorte. I replied that I am happy with it… Than he replied it’s blocked by VISA and that I can’t withdraw my money from it.
Luckily I had some cash that was left on me and gift card from my parents… I don’t know when this issue will resolve anytime soon, but sure left me out without resources and in uncomfortable situation. It could be way worse. Made me remember why I hate credit cards… Guess I am not alone in this and I need to remember that nothing is secure in this fast pace modern world in which we live today.
On the other hand, I took all of this rather calmly and continued to enjoy the beautiful island of Aegina. I just had dinner by the sea with some famous Greek Souvlaki.
Living remote life isn’t as easy as it seemed to be in the first place, but this was very good experiment.
And now rant about the Greece. This is one typical Balkan country and paying with credit cards is not acceptable, even me as stubborn Serb got used to modern living and credit card usage (except for this minor epass accident)… They really need to grow up as people, because even in Belgrade you can pay with cards on more places.
Other thing that will leave Greece in bad memory is crappy internet connection and lack of WiFi’s in many places. My opinion is that every caffe/restaurant has to have WiFi today. It’s elementary human right in Sweeden and should be everywhere in the world. Internet is common good for everyone to use… And Greece is falling behind developed world with this. I am using crappy VodaFone usb, but it gets the job done… If I relied on WiFi’s I wouldn’t be writing this post right now… So beware if you go to internet and your work is dependent for stable connection, cause here, you will hardly find any 🙂
Weekend is coming and I will finally have some time for myself to enjoy the sea properly. Got out of filthy Athens, and now some peace at the sea and away from all the traffic jam… Unfortunately I can’t prolong my stay, because of obvious ePass isues, but this was sure one hell of a trip…
